All about Roman shades

WHAT ARE ROMAN SHADES?

Roman shades are fabric window coverings that stack evenly at the top of the windows when opened. They create a built-in, clean-lined look. They are a great option for windows with limited wall space on the sides. The practical and thoughtful choice is to utilize a combination of roman shades for small/short windows and full-length drapery for large/tall windows.

We are only offering Flat style Roman shades at this moment, if you are interested in other styles, please contact us at support@loftcurtains.com

WHERE TO PLACE ROMAN SHADES?

Roman shades can be inside mounted or outside mounted. Considering the window frame depth is the first step.

Inside mount is recommended when

  • The window frames are attractive
  • The window frame is more than 1 1/2” deep

Outside mount is recommended when

  • The window frame depth is less than 1 1/2”
  • The window frame is not particularly attractive
  • You plan to create a higher ceiling look by mounting the shades much higher than the window
  • You plan to have blackout roman shades

HOW TO INSTALL ROMAN SHADES?

Our heavy-duty roman shade tracks with continuous loop control are easy to operate and install. The tracks can be either wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted with the same bracket that comes with our track.

Tools you need:

  • Drill with a 1/8” bit and a Phillips bit
  • Phillips screwdriver

Installation:

  • Measure and mark:
For the wall mount, measure the mark the height you would like the top of shade rail to be installed.
For ceiling mount, measure and mark the locations of bracket drilling holes.
  • Attach bracket:
For the wall mount, attach your brackets to your desired area. Drill screws through holes for a secure mount.
For ceiling mount, attach the bracket to the ceiling by first pre-drilling holes for screw diameter when mounting into a ceiling stud. Otherwise, pre-drill and install anchors first before fastening with screws.
  • Attach track:
Insert track into bracket applying pressure until it “clicks” into place. If using swivel bracket, insert track onto the bracket and turn swivel to lock in place.
  • Attach tension pulley:
Attach the backplate to the wall on the control/chain side.

New Roman shade, usually thick fabric and flat style Roman shade, may require some training to create a memory for the fabrics to fold at the correct places.
